INFECTIONS (SINUSITIS)
There are two types of sinus infections: short-term or acute, which get better in a few days or weeks, and long-term or chronic, which can last for months or keep coming back.

Short-term sinus infections usually respond well to medical treatment, while people with long-term or chronic infections may also find relief from medication. If none of the available treatments relieve your symptoms, sinus surgery may be a viable option.

MEDICAL TREATMENT:

Common symptoms of acute sinus infections are similar to those of the common cold. In most cases, a cold will go away on its own. Your doctor may recommend that you take a common decongestant to relieve your symptoms.

If your sinus infection lasts longer than a week, it may be bacterial in origin. In this case, your doctor may suggest antibiotics. Most cases of acute bacterial sinusitis are treated with a course of antibiotics.

Medical treatment is also available for chronic sinus infections. Depending on the severity of your condition, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics.
